This is a wonderful hike with two faces. On the one hand the most beautiful forest paths along the river Our, on the other hand large stretches of asphalt along through roads with lots of freight traffic. The route starts out fairly flat, the second part has some steep hills.

Today is the first stage in Luxembourg. A hike of over 25,5 kilometers, with in the second part quite some ascending and descending. We get up a bit earlier than usual and when we leave the campsite at 8.30 am, the fog starts to rise from the valley and the river.

The route starts on beautiful forest paths along the Our river. The old beech forests with fresh green leaves, the rocks along the river and beds of wood anemones have a fairytale feel. We follow the river for about 8 km until we need to follow the main road at Dasburg. There are no sidewalks, which is quite annoying with the large amount of truck traffic and cars racing around the corners. So we are glad to walk back into the forest after a few kilometers. Several steep climbs and descents await us, but what a lovely area.

One beautiful view after another, flowers everywhere and the smells and colors of spring really make us enjoy our hike. During some descents it’s clear to see that there has been a lot of flooding here as well; the paths sometimes turn into knee-high gullies, which makes balancing with a well-filled backpack pretty difficult. The hiking pole comes in handy…

The last kilometers we descend through forests of flowering gorse and we arrive singing at the campsite. In the last bit of sunshine we pitch our tent by the river and take it easy. Tomorrow will be a long walk.
