We start this second leg along the Algarve at the campsite in Sagres. When we wake up at seven o'clock it's still cold, but when we leave the campsite the sun is already up and it starts to warm up nicely. All packed and ready, we walk towards the village. From Sagres the route continues to follow the coast. Mostly on paths of red earth, occasionally quite narrow among spiky, low vegetation. It is a stunning route up along the high cliffs overlooking the deep blue ocean. We walk along gorgeous, wonderfully quiet sandy beaches where we are joined by a few surfers and people walking their dogs. Each beach and view invites to take a break, but we continue walking until about halfway, where we pick a spot in the sun. With the sound of the wind and roaring waves, we enjoy our coffee and lunch.

After this break, the stage is at least as beautiful as before, but we slowly start to notice that walking with a backpack over sand is pretty challenging. In addition, we did not expect that many altimeters along the coast. There are a number of times when there's quite a lot of ascending and descending. But it's so beautiful out here! With around 15°C and plenty of sunshine, the weather is fantastic for hiking. A little later than we expected, we arrive at the campsite in Salema and find a quiet spot for the night. Let's give our legs a little rest!
